The
weather in the U.K. in January, February and early March is at best dismal
why not treat yourself to a spell in the Florida sunshine experiencing some
of the best light tackle, sportfishing in the world. The Florida Keys
at this time of year offers a huge variety of different species including
small
tarpon
up to 50 lb, big sharks, cobia, king mackerel, grouper, spanish mackerel,
sea trout, jacks, lady fish, pompano, snappers, barracuda, bluefish, snook
etc. etc. The fishing at this time of year is all during the daytime
with temperatures in the 70's to low 80's and no humidity. Fishing at
times is hectic with lots of fish and multiple hook ups are common. A
lot of the fish this time of year are good eating and bringing a few back to
put on the bar-b-que or take to a local restaurant who will cook them for
you is a great way to finish the day.
This ten day winter holiday break will give you 7 days guided fishing with nine nights self-catering accommodation in our luxury canal front home with the option to book extra fishing either backcountry or offshore bluewater or visit the many attractions the Keys have to offer. The dates are on the left of the screen and prices are based on four anglers fishing four to a boat but there is an option for two or three anglers per boat if that is what you prefer.
Our fishing breaks from mid March to June are geared to coincide with the main run of giant tarpon and big sharks migrating through the Keys channels. The tarpon are nearly all over 100 lb and the sharks grow huge but are regularly landed over 400 lb. Most of the other species previously mentioned in our earlier break can also be caught this time of year with the addition of permit and bonefish.
The weeks run from
Sunday to Sunday. Included in the week's holiday are 5 fishing trips
and 7 nights self catering
accommodation in our fully equipped, modern, air conditioned house which is right on the water. Extra trips can be booked if
required. All
flights, car hire and insurance are your own responsibility but we can help
you with this if you need assistance. We do not include this in the package
as many people like to stay extra days in the Keys or travel up to Orlando
to extend their holiday so we leave you with the flexibility of picking your
own flight, car and holiday insurance. If you want to stay in Orlando

The dates available for next year are listed on the left of the screen. We can cater for up to 7 anglers fishing with two, three or four on each boat. All rods, tackle and bait are supplied for the trip but you do need to buy a fishing licence to fish in the Florida Keys. These can be booked before your trip on-line at www.floridaconservation.org for $16.50 plus $1.95 surcharge.
Islamorada is spread
over four islands, situated virtually halfway
between Miami and Key West -
about 70 miles from each. It is known as the "Sport fishing Capital of
the World" because of the huge diversity of fishing that is available.
You can fish the Oceanside on the offshore reefs and in the Gulf Stream for
sailfish, tuna, amberjack, dolphin, barracuda, grouper, kingfish, snappers
and sharks or the Bay side where there are tarpon, bonefish, permit, jacks,
sharks, redfish, trout, snook, barracuda, stingrays, etc. etc.....
Islamorada has many
waterfront bars and restaurants and is a great
place to relax and chill out
and very close at hand you can arrange Everglade Tours, diving and
snorkelling trips, swimming with the dolphins, go shopping or visit Key
West. Also in the centre of Islamorada is the biggest fishing tackle
shop you will have ever seen called Worldwide Sportsman.

The Fishing The main species we target are big tarpon and sharks. Tarpon are the number one inshore sport fish in the world. They are spectacular giving huge jumps, long searing runs and a great fight that you won't forget. The tarpon are fished for either early morning or evening in two ways, you either drift using 30 lb conventional tackle or sight fish (casting at individual fish) using 20 lb spinning rods. The main baits are small live fish or live blue crabs. The sharks
are big and mean. They are mainly lemons, bulls and Most of the other species are fished for with ten or twelve pound spinning gear using either baited jigs, plugs, live shrimp or small live fish.

A £400 per person , non-returnable, deposit is required with your booking.

The remaining monies are to be paid in full by 1st December 2008.

Fishing trips can be arranged for you or you can hire your own boat and dock it at the house which is 2 minutes from the Bay and 5 minutes from the ocean. The house also has a hot tub and a private beach.
